BankFailFriday Site News
The BankFailFriday.org site is powered by Posterous.com and for a few days this week they experienced a Denial of Service Attack. According to the official announcement, "On August 4 from 1:41pm until shortly before 3p pacific time, we had an unscheduled and unplanned outage due to a denial of service (DoS) attack on our core load-balancing servers. That basically means that we were flooded with malicious amounts traffic our upstream providers were unable to handle, and we couldn’t respond to the requests of real users. During this time, all Posterous-hosted sites were out." Additionally, custom domain sites, like BankFailFriday.org, experienced an even longer outage.
Posterous.com is rapidly expanding their capabilites and tonight, they will be moving datacenters and will be down for 2 to 4 hours starting at 10PM PDT. Additionally, they are working on new techniques to help keep custom domain sites up during DoS attacks.
Sincerly,
The @BankFailFriday Team
